There may be no wrong answer when deciding what to bring to today’s 92.3 WOW FM All Hands on Deck Food Drive.
Smiths Falls Community Food Bank Executive Director Natalia Soteroff says the organization is heading into the event during what has become an especially demanding time of year.
August brings additional pressure for many families as September approaches.
School snacks are a good option, but Soteroff says donors should not feel limited to any particular list. The food bank is ordering large amounts of food every week to meet demand.
Cash and gift cards can also make a major difference. The food bank can use that money to purchase items such as milk, meat, bread and eggs that are less likely to arrive through regular donations.
The first 92.3 WOW FM All Hands on Deck Food Drive runs Thursday, Aug. 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Jonsson’s Independent Grocer.
Food, basic essentials, gift cards and cash will all be accepted.
