Costello Family Dentistry in Carleton Place is offering free dental care as part of its annual Free Day of Dentistry on Saturday September 12th. In person registration starts at 7:30 am at their office at 6 Costello Drive.
The event is designed to help adults aged 18 and older who may face barriers to accessing dental care, providing an opportunity for members of the community to receive treatment at no cost. Costello Dentistry CEO Dr. Shahrooz Yazdani explains why he started the practice and continues it annually.
The initiative brings dental professionals and volunteers together to provide care and raise awareness about the importance of maintaining good oral health.
Services offered during the event can include cleanings, extractions, and fillings, depending on individual needs and the resources available that day. The event is also intended to connect people with information about ongoing dental care and ways to maintain their oral health.
For Costello Family Dentistry, the day is about more than providing a free appointment. It is an opportunity to give back to the community and help people who might otherwise delay or go without dental treatment. Even though the recently introduced Canada Dental Care Plan has reduced demand for the Free Day of Dentistry, Dr. Yazdani says there are a lot of people left behind.
The Free Day of Dentistry is part of a broader effort by dental professionals across Ontario and Canada to improve access to oral health services. Dental care can be a significant expense for individuals and families, particularly for those without private insurance or other coverage.
Costello Family Dentistry is encouraging people interested in participating to check with the practice for details about eligibility, available services, registration and appointment requirements.
The event provides a reminder that regular dental care is an important part of overall health — while giving the local practice an opportunity to put that commitment into action.
