The sights, sounds and flavours of the harvest season will be on display next weekend as the Lanark County Harvest Festival returns to Beckwith Park.
The annual family-friendly event takes place Sunday, September 13th, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., bringing together local farmers, food producers, artisans and community organizations. Admission is free.
The festival is designed to give residents and visitors a chance to connect directly with the people who grow, make and produce food and other goods here in Lanark County.
Organizers say visitors can expect local vendors, farmers and artisans, along with live music and cultural displays. Lanark County Warden and Beckwith Reeve Richard Kidd sets the scene.
Kidd reports they are expecting over 50 vendors this year.
There will also be plenty for families to enjoy, including a petting zoo, wagon rides and bouncy castles for children. The event highlights the county’s rural character while offering an opportunity to shop locally and learn more about agriculture and local food production. Each year of the Festival, a different Lanark County community is highlighted and this year the spotlight will be on Montague Township. The festival is being held at Beckwith Park, located at 1319 Beckwith Ninth Line with plenty of parking and a horse-drawn shuttle to take visitors right to the action.
Vendor applications were opened earlier this year to local farmers, artisans, food vendors and businesses, with organizers looking to showcase locally grown produce, handcrafted products and locally produced food and beverages.
The Lanark County Harvest Festival runs from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 13th, and admission is free.
