Incumbent Carleton Place councillor Dena Comely is seeking re-election, saying she wants to continue the work started during the current term and ensure progress already underway is carried through.
Comely brings a background in environmental and geotechnical engineering to the council table.
She says her technical training and early career have given her experience reading plans and reports, working with government standards and navigating construction processes — skills she says have been valuable during her four years on council.
A long-time Carleton Place resident, small business owner and parent of three, Comely says she has a practical perspective on how municipal decisions affect families and residents in their everyday lives.
She points to her involvement with local parks, roads, recreation facilities and community services, as well as years of participation in local non-profits, committees of council and community organizations.
Comely says that combination of technical expertise, business experience, community involvement and lived experience has prepared her to ask informed questions and make balanced decisions and brings value to the table.
She says, if re-elected, she will continue working toward a vibrant, resilient and connected Carleton Place.
