Almonte is getting ready to send summer out with a country-sized celebration as the 2026 Almonte Fair returns Sept. 11 to 13 with three days of agriculture, entertainment and family fun.
Organized by the North Lanark Agricultural Society, the fair brings together livestock shows, homecraft displays, agricultural education, midway rides and live entertainment beside the Mississippi River.
Society president Mark Priddle says the weekend has found its groove again.
Families will find plenty beyond the midway, including games, a petting zoo, wagon rides, magic, firefighter activities and other hands-on attractions.
Priddle says some of those extras help families stretch their day at the fair.
The setting is another big part of the experience, with the fairgrounds close enough to downtown Almonte for visitors to explore both during the weekend.
Priddle says the grounds have their own character once the day gets rolling.
This year’s schedule also includes dog performances, arm wrestling, chainsaw carving, sheep shearing, live music and Sunday’s popular demolition derby.
Priddle says one unusual attraction should turn some heads.
Homemade pie, agricultural competitions and displays round out a weekend built around rural tradition.
General admission is $20, while a $40 full-access pass includes midway rides. Children under 36 inches are admitted free.
For organizers, the fair is about more than rides and entertainment. It is a chance to celebrate local agriculture, bring neighbours together and keep generations of community tradition alive.
