Smiths Falls Councillor Stephen Robinson is seeking re-election, saying he wants to continue contributing to the community and finish work started during his first term.
Robinson says one of his priorities for a second term would be the redevelopment of the former water treatment plant.
He mentioned his first term taught him that municipal government takes patience, collaboration and persistence. He also points to unexpected challenges, including fires to the former water treatment plant and public works garage, and the need for expanded public works facilities, as examples of how council has had to adjust its priorities.
He says council must continue listening to staff as Smiths Falls grows and changes.
Robinson also remains opposed to the proposed ALTO high-speed rail project, and was was one of the councillors who voted against supporting the town’s efforts to be included in the project.
Robinson says continued investment in underground infrastructure, parks and other improvements will help make Smiths Falls a more vibrant community.
He hopes to be part of that work if voters return him to council for another term.
