Mississippi Mills is looking at an average three-per-cent increase in recreation fees and charges for 2027.
Staff are proposing inflationary increases for recreation-related rentals, while some program fees would also rise next year.
The report says program fees remained largely unchanged in 2026, but staff continue to face a challenge with low participant commitment. Some people register for programs but do not attend regularly, leaving spaces unavailable to others who may have wanted to participate.
Staff say modest fee increases for some programs could encourage more intentional registration and improve attendance. They note that consistent participation is important because program capacity is limited and unused spaces can affect the overall effectiveness of recreation programs. The proposed average increases are expected to be about three per cent.
Staff are also recommending a new family discount for youth soccer and hockey programs. Families registering three or more youth would receive a 15-per-cent discount.
The proposed changes are part of the municipality’s broader review of fees and charges for 2027.
Council will consider the recommendations before they proceed through the municipality’s approval process.
