A Beckwith Township man is facing impaired driving and several other charges after Lanark County OPP stopped an ATV on Highway 15.
Police say officers spotted the all-terrain vehicle shortly after midnight on Aug. 5 and noticed the driver was not wearing a helmet.
Officers stopped the ATV and spoke with the driver before making an arrest.
Lawrence Thomas, 35, was taken to the OPP detachment in Carleton Place for testing.
He has been charged with operating while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80.
Thomas also faces charges for failing to wear a helmet and failing to surrender his driver’s licence, insurance card and off-road vehicle permit.
He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Oct. 19.
His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the ATV was impounded for seven days.
The charges have not been proven in court.
