A longtime Ramsay Ward councillor is seeking another four-year term on Mississippi Mills council.
Bev Holmes, who has served the ward for the past eight years, first ran for office in 2018 after becoming dissatisfied with some of the decisions being made by the council of the day.
She says her professional and agricultural background would continue to bring valuable experience to the council table, particularly from careers in nursing, nursing administration and farming. Holmes explains why she’s running this time
She added that three of her priorities for the next term are improving gravel roads, advocating for more support for farmers, and ensuring the Tait/McKenzie collections stay at the Mill of Kintail.
Raised on a dairy farm, Holmes continued farming through much of her adult life. Although now retired from nursing, she remains actively involved in agriculture. Along with her family, she operates a medium-sized cow-calf operation raising Simmental cattle.
Holmes says that combination of professional experience and agricultural knowledge, along with what she describes as a common sense approach, has helped her effectively represent Ramsay Ward residents. She notes her past and present careers bring a lot of value to the council table.
She believes those same skills and experience can continue to benefit residents of Mississippi Mills if elected to another term.
