Stephanie Drummond was born and raised in Perth.
She is an eighth-generation Perth resident who has run a small business for nearly 20 years and has seen the Town at its best and during its more challenging times.
Right now, Drummond says, Perth is going through another challenging period. Neighbouring communities – Smiths Falls, Carleton Place, and Almonte – are enjoying the benefits of investment and growth, while Perth’s infrastructure is decaying, taxes keep rising with little to show for it, and young people and families have left or are choosing not to live here. These are some of the reasons why she is taking a second shot at the mayor’s chair.
Drummond ran in 2022 and placed third in votes behind the winner, Judy Brown and runner-up, John Fenik.
She believes a new mayor and council must focus on core services above everything else. This means better financial management to keep taxes low for residents, restoration of infrastructure – including roads, sidewalks, and parks – and the rebuilding of key recreational centres for year-round use by seniors and families. Drummond states her business experience would serve Perth residents well.
Drummond is also pledging to change how Perth does business to attract new jobs and investment so the Town can thrive and draw young people and families back. This is why she is running.
She feels that Perth requires fresh leadership like hers to provide core services, strong finances, and real accountability – for a change.
