A new 36-unit housing co-operative in Perth could receive a $513,000 boost from Lanark County to help cover unexpected construction costs.
The Community Services Committee is recommending the funding for Linden Housing Development Cooperative, which is nearing completion at 79 Wilson St.
Housing Services Manager Kaitlyn Murray says the funding is to cover unanticipated costs to the non-profit project.
In return, three units would be designated as County affordable housing for a minimum of 20 years.
Murray says all 36 units in the development will meet the County’s affordability criteria, while the three County-designated units will be offered at a slightly lower rate.
The co-op is expected to welcome residents in January 2027.
The $513,000 is part of a proposed $983,000 investment in two Perth housing projects.
The remaining $470,000 would go to Cornerstone Landing Youth Services for two additional units serving youth experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
County council is expected to consider the recommendation at its next meeting.
