Ramsey Hart is a longtime Perth-area community and environmental advocate who is running for Perth Town Council this year. Hart is the former executive director of The Table Community Food Centre, where he worked on food security, affordability, inclusion and community programs.
He has also been involved with local climate-change initiatives and Lanark County Neighbours for Truth and Reconciliation.
In June 2026, Hart became executive director of the Mississippi Madawaska Land Trust, bringing environmental and conservation experience to the organization. He describes himself as an avid naturalist.
Hart previously ran as the NDP candidate in Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston in the 2018 Ontario election, finishing second. He tells us why he decided to make the run for a council seat.
Hart says It’s hard to pick just three priorities but three important things to him are… 1 – Residential development should be more responsible to community needs and realities and help the town become more sustainable. At every opportunity he notes he will use his vote and voice to advocate for this. 2. He commits to advocate for consistent stable funding for core social services and use his platform as a councillor to promote community organizations and encourage everyone to support them as volunteers or donors. 3. He adds that we need to do better at supporting our local businesses. He reports he will launch a buy local challenge during the holidays and share his experiences buying local through social media.
Hart says he brings much to the table that will be of value to residents.
