The Upper Canada District School Board has surpassed a long-standing goal of reaching a 90 per cent graduation rate.
The board reported a 91.7 per cent graduation rate for the 2024-25 school year, continuing an upward trend in student achievement.
Trustee John Danaher remembers his early days where the 90% graduation rate was a high-set bar.
Danaher credited the work of staff and students for reaching the milestone, while trustees also pointed to a longer-term focus on using evidence and data to guide decisions.
Trustee David McDonald says the next step is maintaining that progress while continuing to address areas where students are struggling.
The board says its work will continue to focus on student achievement, attendance, engagement and successful transitions, with the goal of helping students graduate on time and prepare for their next step after high school.
