A 56-year-old man is recovering after being rescued from a house fire in Smiths Falls.
The Smiths Falls Police Service was called to a structure fire at 46 Bell Avenue on Aug. 17, 2026, and officers arrived shortly after the call.
Police say members of the Smiths Falls Fire Department had already located and rescued an unconscious man from the residence.
Firefighters removed the man from the building and provided lifesaving medical treatment until paramedics arrived.
The man was taken to hospital and was later confirmed to be in stable condition.
Smiths Falls police say officers also obtained witness statements and reviewed CCTV footage as part of their investigation into the incident.
At this time, police say there is no evidence to suggest the fire was intentionally set.
The investigation remains ongoing.
