Residents in Perth may notice a heavier police presence around town next Thursday, but there is no cause for concern.
The RCMP National Emergency Response Team will be conducting a planned training exercise in Perth on Oct. 8 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Training will take place at several locations, including the Perth & District Community Centre, Conlon Farm, the Chalet, 16 Conlon Drive and the town’s Environmental Services garage and workshop.
Residents may see uniformed officers, staging areas and other emergency response activity near those locations throughout the day.
The town says the exercise is strictly for training purposes.
Perth is supporting the initiative as a way to strengthen relationships with emergency response agencies and give the RCMP greater familiarity with the community.
That experience can also help with future emergency management planning.
