Rideau Lakes councillors want a clearer picture of how the township’s different roads are managed.
Hometown News reports Councillor Paula Banks asked staff to prepare a report outlining the township’s road categories and expected levels of service.
The report would cover paved, hard-surfaced and gravel roads and could help identify where future upgrades may make sense.
Clerk Mary Ellen Truelove suggested the report focus on levels of service rather than provincial minimum maintenance standards.
She said that would tie the discussion more closely to the township’s asset management planning.
Councillor Debbie Hutchings supported the request, saying it would make the process more transparent and help answer questions residents regularly raise about roads.
Council supported the motion without opposition.
The report could return within the next couple of months or be left for the next council to consider.
