Students will have more opportunities to learn outdoors thanks to a $7,000 contribution from Enbridge Gas Ontario.
The Rideau Valley Conservation Foundation says the funding will support outdoor education programs at Foley Mountain Conservation Area in the Leeds and Grenville area.
The programs give students hands-on opportunities to explore forests, wetlands and wildlife while learning about conservation. The lessons complement classroom learning and encourage students to build a stronger connection with the natural world.
The contribution will help offset transportation and program costs, making it easier for schools to bring students to Foley Mountain.
More than 4,600 students visit the conservation area each year for curriculum-based outdoor education programs.
Rideau Valley Conservation Foundation executive director Diane Downey says support from partners such as Enbridge Gas helps ensure costs do not prevent students from experiencing outdoor education.
The foundation also encourages community members to support its Out to Learn Fund, which helps create more opportunities for students to take part in nature-based learning.
