Nearly 200 people gathered in Carleton Place last month to explore careers in early childhood education, as Lanark County looks to strengthen its child care workforce.
Lanark County Children’s Services held its Early Childhood Education Job Fair on Oct. 21 at the Carleton Place Arena Upper Hall.
The event brought together high school students, current educators, prospective job seekers, local child care employers and students from Algonquin College’s Woodroffe Campus.
Attendees had the opportunity to speak directly with employers and experienced educators, learn about education pathways and explore career opportunities in the early years and child care sector.
Children’s Services Supervisor Chelsey Coe says attracting and retaining qualified educators remains important as the sector continues to face workforce pressures.
She says the job fair helped highlight Lanark County as a place where people can build a career while contributing to their communities.
The event also coincided with ECE and Child Care Worker Appreciation Day, recognizing the professionals who support children and families throughout the county.
Coe says the event gave prospective educators an opportunity to hear firsthand about the meaningful work involved in early childhood education.
Lanark County Children’s Services thanked the participating schools, employers, educators and community partners for helping make the event a success.
