Smiths Falls’ Brooke Henderson didn’t have the tournament she wanted at this weekend’s LPGA CP Canadian Open finishing tied for 49th 14 back of the winner.
But Brooke told LPGA.com that the fan support made up for the lack of results on the course. “It was so amazing,” she said. “The fans this week were totally incredible. I never dreamed that this many people would continue to follow me all weekend, especially when I was so far down in the pack, but they’re loyal to me and it just meant the world to me that they were all out here supporting (me).”
Many of those fans watched Brooke grow up and travelled the hour to see her play. Others are new fans who have watched her develop into one of the best players in the world.
She says she didn’t have her best stuff, but her fans are dedicated. “They were there with me every shot. I’m going to sign a bunch of autographs and take some pictures now. I just love them so much and I just can’t believe they were out here in full force.”
Brooke also called winning the tournament back in 2018 a career highlight and says she is looking forward to a future opportunity to win our national tournament once again.
Brooke has 12 wins on her career, including that CP Open win, and two major championships.
