More information has been provided by Lanark County OPP regarding Thursday’s incident near Stewart School in Perth.
In a statement to lanarkleedstoday.ca, Constable Corey Noonan confirmed police were called around 4:10 p.m. to the Wilson Street West entrance of Stewart School for a single-vehicle school bus collision.
The road was closed for about 30 minutes while the portion of the bus blocking a lane was cleared.
The bus driver and a 10-year-old student sustained minor injuries and were assessed by paramedics at the scene.
Police say the bus appears to have struck a metal gate arm while entering the driveway.
Noonan said it’s not yet known why the arm swung open, noting it was very windy at the time.
