Families can enjoy a full evening of free entertainment as Movies Under the Stars begins its summer season Thursday night in Smiths Falls.
The first movie of the five-night series is the animated family film *Hoppers*. The event takes place at Centennial Park, under the water tower, with activities beginning at 7 p.m. and the movie expected to start around 8:45 p.m., once it is dark enough.
The Smiths Falls Heritage House Museum organizes the series with support from local sponsors and community partners.
Program Coordinator Sienna Cawley said they love bringing the movies to the park.
Museum Assistant Aidan Tucker Cormier says opening-night activities always keep kids of all ages entertained.
This week includes the Fur, Feathers and Fins Petting Zoo and a visit from the Smiths Falls Public Library.
A canteen will also sell refreshments, and the excitement continues when the film appears on the giant outdoor screen.
The event is family-friendly, open to all ages and free to attend. People may bring lawn chairs, blankets, bug spray and even snacks.
Details about upcoming films and pre-show activities are available through the Heritage House Museum’s Movies under the stars Facebook page found here, and the Heritage House Museum section of smithsfalls.ca.
