Wingham, Kincardine, and Mitchell were all victorious in their respective PJHL playoff series openers. Brady Becker scored twice to lead the Ironmen past Walkerton 4-3. The Bulldogs got three points each from Mike Fiegehen and Logan Freiburger in a 7-1 victory over Goderich. Despite the one-sided score, Fiegehen says it was anything but an easy game.
Sean Andrus made 35 saves in net for the Bulldogs. Jarrett Bogdon scored 13:47 into overtime as the Hawks edged Hanover 5-4.
In the WOAA “AA” quarterfinals. Tillsonburg stole Game 1 of their series with Saugeen Shores with a 5-4 victory in overtime. Clinton edged Seaforth 3-2. The Radars have a 1-0 lead in that series. Ripley pounded Durham 9-2 in their opener.
To high school sports. In girls curling. Sacred Heart over Saugeen 4-3. In boys basketball. Walkerton juniors beating Kincardine 52-39. They also took the senior game 53-51.

In the OHL. Owen Sound is in Erie tonight. The Attack are coming off an 11-1 thumping of the Ice Dogs in Niagara on Thursday.
PJHL playoff action resumes tonight with Kincardine in Goderich for Game 2 of that series. Mike Fiegehen with two goals and an assist in the Bulldogs’ 7-1 victory last night. But he expects the Flyers to come out better tonight.
Game time at the Maitland Recreation Centre is 7:30. Also, Hanover is home to Mitchell trailing 1-0 in that series. Wingham heads to Walkerton up 1-0 there.
Game two of the WOAA “AA” quarterfinal series between the Winterhawks and the Thunder goes tonight in Tillsonburg. Saugeen Shores trails that best of seven 1-0. Durham is hosting Ripley in Game 2 of that series trailing 1-0.
