The Bluewater District School Board has appointed a new director of education.
Superintendent of Education, Lori Wilder will be taking on the role effective October 1st however she will be the director designate as of June 27th.
She will be replacing retiring Director of Education, Alana Murray.
Wilder began her career as a teacher for Georgian Bay Secondary School.
She has served in many roles in the board such as vice principal, principal and Student Success Leader.
Wilder has also been a champion of indigenous learning for students and staff, student athletics and in fostering inclusion and acceptance by implementing Gay Straight Alliances in many schools.
Bluewater District School Board Chair Jan Johnstone, says Wilder’s collaborative leadership approach, vast experience, and involvement in programs geared towards supporting some of our omst vulnerable students will be a wonderful asset in guiding us into an exciting future for the students.”
Adding that she will be wonderful asset.
She says she is extremely honoured and humbled to be appointed this position and is thankful for the confidence trustees have in her and for the support from colleagues.
Wilder adds she “looks forward to building upon the great work of Director Murray to deliver excellent educational opportunities where all our students can flourish. Continuing her legacy of strong leadership is especially important as we navigate the challenges related to COVID-19.”
