Achieving sustainable communities where all residents are safe is a step closer to reality after Bruce and Grey counties earlier this month endorsed the new Community Safety & Well-Being Plan.
The collaboration involving lower-tier municipalities, police services, boards of education and social service agencies will ultimately lead to a reduction in crime across the region.
Expected to be fully approved early in the new year, the plan will pave the way for local action teams to begin tackling priority areas like addiction and substance use, mental health, crime prevention, housing, homelessness and poverty.
