Lanark County OPP are set to receive almost $112,000, and the Leeds detachment about $138,000 to help respond to calls from people experiencing mental health or addictions crises.
The money allows each detachment to add mental health and addictions crisis workers to existing Mobile Crisis Response Teams and help ensure these specialized resources are available where and when needed.
Crisis workers work with police to determine what type of help is needed in often difficult situations. Police have told Lake 88 in the past that the program works well and is getting people the help they need.
The program is also being run in Smiths Falls.
