Concerns over resulting supply-chain issues are sparking a push for the Trudeau Liberals to get involved in a labour dispute that has shut down C-P Rail.
More than three-thousand conductors, engineers, train, and yard workers are now off the job.
Labour Minister Shamus O’Regan has acknowledged that the work stoppage comes at the worst possible time for Canadians especially after dealing with other supply issues thanks to the pandemic.
But the Minister days his government has no plan to introduce back-to-work legislation right now, because the company and union are still talking. The state of those talks has not been made public yet.
Workers say their biggest issues are wages, pensions, and rest between runs.
