The Ford Government is moving ahead with a plan that would offer consumers lower rates on their electricity bills during overnight hours.
The Ford Tories say that if the proposed plan was in place right now, it would offer electricity at 2.5 cents per kilowatt-hour.
That’s 70 per cent lower than the current off-peak rate.
The plan coincides with on to expand electric car industry and would see lower rates from 11pm to 7am, when most people are asleep, but would also be charging those vehicles.
The province says the move could save consumers about $90 a year on their hydro bills.
