Lanark County to give Carebridge, Smiths Falls go-ahead for new affordable housing building

Lanark County will officially award Carebridge Community Support the contract for an upcoming affordable housing unit at 44 Chambers Street in Smiths Falls at the next county council meeting.

As Lake 88 reported last month, the site will include 28 geared-to-income rental units and a parking garage.

Smiths Falls Mayor Shawn Pankow expressed gratitude towards Carebridge and additional affordable housing units.

Director of Social Services Emily Hollington dives into the specifics.

The total project costs are pegged at $8.8 million with an estimated completion date of July 2023.
