Dr. Paula Stewart, Medical Officer of Health for the Leeds Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit announced on Lake 88 that she is retiring.
Dr. Stewart broke the news that after 12 years, its time to move on to the next phase of her life.
A beacon throughout the dozen years at the helm or the health unit, she never shone brighter as she has for the past 2-plus years during the pandemic. He calming tone helped the public deal with the health crisis as she explained every new regulation brought down by the province and her office.
Dr. Stewart always explained the science and reasoning behind each move, a method many listeners told us was reassuring.
Doctor says moving to Lanark County from Ottawa to take on the role, was a pretty good decision.
Dr. Stewart says the connections in the community have made all the difference over the course of her time with the Health Unit.
She credits the people of the communities she serves, and mentions Lake 88 listeners specifically as driving forces over the course of the health crisis.
