Kemptville District Hospital has been officially designated as a CT Site by the Ontario Government.
Local MPP Steve Clark made the announcement yesterday that paves the way for the addition of the vital diagnostic equipment to the hospital.
The move could allow some patients to head to Kemptville for scans instead of travelling to Ottawa, saving time. Another machine in the area would also mean reduced waiting times.
Hospital CEO Frank J. Vassallo says they recognized some time ago that the hospital has to be able to offer CT in their Emergency Department and are thrilled to see the initiative moving forward with the CT site designation.
He added adding CT scanning capabilities will be a game changer, allowing the hospital to bring in new medical and surgical programs requiring CT.
There’s still work to be done before it’s a reality though.
A fundraising campaign by the KDH Foundation will be launched and an addition will have to be built to house the new CT technology.
