Perth’s director of development services Joanna Bowes reported on changes to planning operations when it comes to housing at this week’s council.
The changes are a result of the province’s recently passed ‘More Homes for Everyone’ legislation designed to create more housing options and opportunities at every level of income, ownership and rental prospects.
Bowes told Councillors this week that in addition to setting a 90-day time limit for approving planning applications before having to refund fees to applicants, the province has made a major change to site plan agreements.
Councillors voted to receive the report, with the understanding that the changes will take effect at the start of 2023.
We expect to hear more from Perth and other local councils as that date approaches.
