The Town of Smiths Falls will enter a memorandum of understanding with Carebridge Community Support with the aim to add an additional affordable housing project at 30 Robinson Avenue.
The goal is to replicate Carebridge’s 36-unit property being constructed at 44 Chambers Street.
Councilor Wendy Alford feels this term of council has worked hard on addressing the housing crisis.
Mayor Shawn Pankow said hurdles still need to be cleared before the champagne can be popped but Carebridge has a long history of getting things done.
In the past the town has tried to sell the Robinson Avenue land on two occasions, but should this development proceed, the town’s agreed to gift it to Carebridge.
