Jeff Winkenweder says he plays a small role, and salutes the Smiths Falls Food Bank's volunteer corps who work hard to help the community all year, every year.
If you’ve ever donated to the Build a Mountain of Food campaign, you’ve met, or at least seen Jeff Winkenweder. You’ve certainly heard him greet you as you walk up Andress’ YIG.
He greets everyone outside the Independent, and we mean everyone. Drop off a donation and you’ll likely get a great hug of thanks.
Jeff’’s been a part of it since Day 1 in 2007.
He gets it from his father Ken, who volunteered in the community for decades running the Rideau Ski Club. Jeff sees that giving spirit in his kids and grandkids, and knew from early on he want to do what he could to help.
Jeff also has a message for anyone wondering if they should give their time.
