Bill Slaven is no stranger to a dirty dish. In fact, one of his favourite spots is in the dish pit at the Table Community Food Centre in Perth where he volunteers as much as possible.
Bill is relatively new to Perth, but knew he wanted to help out shortly after moving here.
Ask Bill what he’s most proud of when it comes to his work, and he’ll tell you the community meals. Not just for making sure they’re available, but their high quality. He and those he works with are very proud of the product they provide.
The former police officer, who worked in a shelter in the Toronto area says it’s a great way to fill his time and he’s made some great friends along the way. He says anyone looking to help should consider it.
Its also something they keep in the family, as his wife volunteers with the Table too.
