The Labour Day long weekend means that police will be out in force making our streets, highways, trails and waterways as safe as possible.
OPP Constable Joe Terschuck says if your plans include travelling, make sure you give yourself plenty of extra time.
Terschuk also says try to buy what you need at home before you hit the road.
If you plan to mark the occasion by hitting the water in a boat, jet-ski, or any other water vessel, the Constable Joe says there’s one thing you have to leave on dry land.
That goes for anyone using any motorized vehicle on a trail too, so if you’ve had a few then decide to hop on the ATV or side-by-side, don’t.
The OPP and other forces will be keeping a close eye on the big four causes of fatalities on our roadways: impaired driving, distracted driving, not using a seatbelt and speed.
Constable Tereschuk says its up to each of us to help keep our roadways, pathways, and waterways safe.
