As Lake 88 first reported last night, the Emergency Department (ED also known as ERs) in Almonte closed overnight due to a lack of staff, re-opening at 7 this morning.
It follows what was a rough weekend for local ER’s.
The Kemptville Emergency Department shut down nightly from 7-7 last Wednesday. They go back to 24-7 operation Tuesday.
There was also another closure by the Carleton Place ER this past weekend.
For the second time this summer, it had to close overnight. It did so Saturday, which was not ideal given the potential for increased volume of patients due to the long-weekend.
In each case the blame is going to the staffing issue that has plagued hospitals across the region, province and country.
The province has pledged to fix the issue, but is asking for much more funding from the Feds to make it happen.
