We continue our look at each recommendation made by the Culleton, Kuzyk & Warmerdam inquest into intimate partner violence.
Today we look at no.2, which says that an independent Intimate Partner Violence Commission should be established.
Interval House Executive Director Erin Lee says creating that group gives groups like here power to act.
Lee says it would also amplify the voices of victims and their families as they navigate the legal and support systems available to them.
She says an official commission with authority would give those people the ability to act without fear of repercussion.
