Mayor Shawn Pankow has been re-elected for a third term in Smiths Falls.
He defeated challenger Justin Duhamel in a campaign which got heated at times.
Pankow said that’s the nature of being an incumbent candidate, you’re bound to have upset constituents over your previous term, but the truth, not misinformation, prevailed Monday night
Pankow secured about 63% of the vote vs. his challenger.
There’s a split horseshoe for Pankow as he enters his third term as mayor. Peter McKenna, Jay Brennan and Chris McGuire all won their re-election bids. New this term are Jennifer Miller, Dawn Quinn and Stephen Robinson.
Pankow says sharing a common goal is what will get things done for the next four years.
There’s experience among the new faces however, as Miller was a former manager for the town, and Quinn sat on council during Pankow’s first mayor term.
Robinson’s sat on the hospital board and previously managed a trio of LCBO locations, among other things.
