We are unearthing Hidden Gems in our listening area today.
This one is probably one of the most significant places in the Town Perth. It’s the new Healing Circle found at the Healing Forest at Last Duel Park.
The forest, circle, and trail stand as symbols of our commitment to reconciliation with Indigenous People.
The circle addition features seven large sitting stones representing the seven sacred teachings, surrounding a fire-pit which is central to many ceremonies, with 13 circular stones representing the 13 moons in between the two. It was designed by Francine Desjardins, a local Knowledge Keeper.
Perth Director of Community Services Shannon Baillon says the circle serves many purposes, including an important one in the reconciliation process.
It goes hand-in-hand with the approach taken by our local elected officials, and the members of the public who helped shape the area.
The Healing Circle is there at any time for anybody to use it.
