We continue our look at each recommendation made by the Culleton, Kuzyk & Warmerdam inquest into intimate partner violence (or IPV).
Number 7 says, “Ensure that IPV issues are addressed using an all-of-government approach across ministries, and cooperate and coordinate with federal, provincial, and territorial partners in seeking to end IPV.”
Interval House Executive Director Erin Lee says this recommendation speaks to a collaborative approach.
Lee says its about filling holes in the system that’s in place to make it much better.
She sites occupational safety acts as an example of some that have changed to include violence over the years. Other government polices can change too to include intimate partner violence to give the issue a larger stage.
