The Perth Soap Company will be shutting down in the new year.
Shandex, the company that operates it blames high commodity prices and the loss of significant sales to its largest US customer for fueling the move. They are adamant that the closure is not due to bankruptcy.
The 40 people working there will be out of a job.
The Perth Soap Company has more than a century experience in the business and has products in some 200 boutiques and spas across North America.
Perth Mayor Judy Brown plans to meet with the company next week to find out their plans for the factory itself and the equipment within.
