Today we look at no. 12: Ensure that survivors and those assisting survivors have direct and timely communication with probation officers to assist in safety planning.
Interval House Executive Director Erin Lee says this recommendation puts victims and survivors in the driver’s seat.
Lee says we can’t skip steps. She adds that there’s open communication in Lanark County, with probation sitting on sexual assault domestic violence advisory committee so concerns can be communicated and specific issues in a case can addressed to support the survivor.

Lee says justice partners like the OPP have held survivor forums where they hear from survivors in the community to make sure they know what survivors are going through in the system.
