Willowdale retirement residence on Armstrong Drive in Smiths Falls has seen its last residents move out and is now closed.
The home run by Chartwell Retirement Residences says the final move out was completed earlier this month. Residents and their families were given lots of notice.
A statement from the company says they had been operating under capacity for a while, and the aging building and its proximity to their Van Horne home made it an easy decision to close Willwodale and move the residents to Van Horne. All but one made the move.
They apologized for any problems this may have caused residents or their families.
Many of the workers at Willowdale also made the move, while some have taken on with other homes in the area.
No decision has been made on the future of the building itself.
