We continue our look at each recommendation made by the Culleton, Kuzyk & Warmerdam inquest into intimate partner violence (or IPV).
Today we look at no. 15 with falls under the System Approaches, Collaboration and Communication Banner.
This recommendation requires primary actors involved in a major incident to conduct a formal de-brief and write a report identifying lessons learned and recommendations for improvement, if appropriate.
Interval House Executive Director Erin Lee says this is a real time saver, and will benefit future investigations.
The expert in IPV says by examining the cases right away, time can be saved. Victims won’t have to wait years for inquests, and lessons can be learned quickly and applied to future investigations.
She says that benefits all involved when it comes to their mental health and healing so they can move forward with their lives.
