We continue our look at each recommendation made by the Culleton, Kuzyk & Warmerdam inquest into intimate partner violence.
Today we look at no. 20: Realign the approach to public funding provided to IPV service providers with a view to removing unnecessary reporting obligations with a focus on service.
Interval House Executive Director Erin Lee says here at home, we need to take a look at funding through the rural lens.
Lee says all involved have to come to an agreement on how to fund services adequately so they can provide help when needed and be prepared to help prevent tragedy while dealing with the expansive landscape and technical challenges in the rural setting.
Lee says organizations like hers know what to with their funding, and this would have the government recognize that.
