We continue our look at each recommendation made by the Culleton, Kuzyk & Warmerdam inquest into ending intimate partner violence (or IPV) in Ontario.
Today we look at no. 26: Ensure teachers are trained to deliver the IPV-related curriculum and utilize IPV professionals regularly to provide support for the delivery of primary, secondary, and post-secondary programming.
Interval House Executive Director Erin Lee says its a complex endeavor.
Lee says it’s also the logical next step in Lanark County.
Lee adds the curriculum has to be age appropriate and teachers need to feel empowered to have conversations around IPV and feel like they have the supports in place that they need to do so.
