The additional funding from the province addressing homelessness announced in April made its way to Lanark County council chambers last week.
The county was given a near $1 million boost in additional funds from the government, after receiving the same $1.5 million in funds as they did last year in March for their Homelessness Prevention Program.
More money means more opportunities to expand their services, including in supportive housing, says Community Support Services Manager Brooke Coutts.
In addition, the county will be looking to hire both a youth and homeless outreach worker, and provide a hoarding program.
The funding will be distributed as follows:
- Emergency Shelter $100,000
- Supportive Housing $1,052,000
- Community Outreach and Support Services $619,200
- Housing Assistance $600,000
- Administration $ 124,800
