We continue our look at each recommendation made by the Culleton, Kuzyk & Warmerdam inquest into ending intimate partner violence, or IPV, in Ontario.
Today we look at the first under the banner Measures Addressing Perpetrators of IPV. It’s number 32 overall and says the province must establish a province-wide 24/7 hotline for men who need support to prevent them from engaging in IPV.
Interval House Executive Director Erin Lee, who testified at the inquest, says help lines are good, but as they are limited in what they can do, it needs to be a part of the solution.
She adds voluntary action by the perpetrators will be very important to making the line work.
Overall however, she says the line would have it benefits.
