We continue our look at each recommendation made by the Culleton, Kuzyk & Warmerdam inquest into ending intimate partner violence (or IPV) in Ontario.
Today we look at number 34 which says the province must recognize the specialized knowledge and expertise of IPV service providers involved in perpetrator intervention. It also speaks to developing and providing competency-based training opportunities.
Lanark County Interval House Executive Director Erin Lee says it’s about identifying and respecting know-how.
Lee says it’s also about respecting the front line workers, and showing it.
She adds that its important to the process that a workforce that is feeling competent, supported and funded is in place, and that’s a big part of this recommendation.
