Smiths Falls council heard from Dillon Consulting Ltd. last Monday who submitted their Land Needs Assessment, or LNA.
An LNA is conducted to determine whether a municipality can accommodate the projected growth in a community, in this case in Smiths Falls until 2046.
Senior Planner and Land Economist Antony Lorius says the town will have to find a solution to secure industrial land.
Lorius also says the town’s running out of residential real estate, and it might be time to get creative.
Lorius says the town should consider an employment survey to help decision-making, and review the institutional policies to identify a specific approach in their forthcoming official plan.
